PhD, historian, sociologist, associate professor with habilitation. He studied history, sociology and psychology at Loránd Eötvös University, at the Katolische Universität Eichstätt, at Humboldt Universität in Berlin and at Universität Wien. He was PdD student at the Berliner Kolleg für Vergleichende Geschichte Europas between 2004 and 2007. Between 2014 and 2016 he was researcher of the Center for Metropolitan Studies, Technische Universität Berlin with the support of a Humboldt scholarship.

He is head of department of the Department of Comparative Historical and Sociological Studies of Loránd Eötvös University. He was research fellow in the 1956 Institute between 1999 and 2019.

He published articles and books regarding the social history of the 19th and 20th centuries, especially about the professionalisation, the methodology of comparative history writing, the 1956 revolution and the housing.
